What's a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that are sent to your computer's memory while visiting your home page. At each subsequent visit, cookies are sent back to the home page of origin or to another home page that recognizes the cookie. Cookies act as a locally stored memory for a particular home page, allowing this page to remember your computer in the next few visits, including remembering your settings or improving user comfort.
