The necessary documents for receiving a passport or an eID card may be submitted and received by any Office for Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP)in the territorial division, regardless of the declared place of life.

A specific limit or criteria for the length of maintenance to be paid after the age of majority is not specified in the regulatory enactments, but it is accepted - if a child continues to be educated, maintenance must be paid not longer than up to the age of 24.
Support from the Support Guarantee Fund may be received up to the age of 21 - if the child continues to acquire basic education, secondary education, vocational education or special education in the Republic of Latvia.
Maintenance costs from the Maintenance Guarantee Fund will not be performed for children who continue to obtain higher education after reaching the age.

State family allowance
● for a child who has reached the age of 15, the parent shall continue to pay the family state allowance until he reaches the child's 20 years of age if he or she is in a general education or vocational education institution and has not entered into a marriage.

! Social guarantees for an orphan remain up to the age of 24. Children under the age of 18 are exempt from making patient contributions when they receive state-paid health services.

Marriage is allowed in Latvia from reaching the age of 18.
In exceptional cases, a marriage may take effect from the age of 16 (with the consent of parents or guardians or a written authorisation of the relevant Orphan's Court), but only if the marriage is entered into with an adult person.
If a person wishing to enter into a marriage is a minor, the submission shall be accompanied by the parents or guardians of the minor, or a written authorisation of the relevant Orphan's Court.
A marriage certificate shall be issued after the marriage is concluded.
Change of surname by marriage
If the last name is changed at the end of the marriage, the identity documents (passport and/or identity card - eID card) shall become invalid for use.

Citizens over the age of 15 have the possibility to change their name if:

The nationality record can be changed once to the nationality of parents and grandparents. If the nationality record has been changed before reaching the age, the nationality record may be changed once after reaching the age.

change, the person must present a valid identity document.
The State fee shall be payable for the change of the name, surname or nationality record.
