Searching the Web Site

To find the information you need in the web site, the users of the site can use the search system. The search block is located in the right-side panel of the web site:

You can receive assistance for the search function by clicking on the link  Search assistant – this will open the page of web site’s Help system with description of search options in the web site.

Simple search

Entering a word or phrase in the search field and clicking on the screen button Search will bring up a list of search results of all the publications, links of the web site, as well as categories of level 2 in the Start page in the currently active language, which contain the entered word or phrase.

The pages and categories found during the search are shown as a list of results. IF number of results meeting the search criteria exceeds 100 entries, you will see the following: „Your search returned more than 100 hits. It might be necessary to make your search more specific.” To reduce the search area or to make the search criteria more specific, you can use the advanced search function (see the description below in this section).

To open a page or category, click on its title that is displayed as a hyperlink.

The search function is not case sensitive. You can use the symbol *, when entering the word or phrase in the search box; it will replace any number of characters. For example, entering the word ‘liep*’, you will get the publications that contain the words: ‘Liepāja’, ‘liepas’, etc.

Advanced search

If during a search it is necessary to make the search criteria more specific or to reduce the search area, e.g. look for information only in the chosen categories, or to search the attached files, it is recommended to use the Advanced search function, which is activated by clicking on the link Advanced search in the search panel, after that the Advanced search window is displayed:
